All my Relations
All My Relations (AMR) celebrates the life of my late mother Anita - our family storyteller and archivist - and our Prairie Métis heritage. Each iconic image is cut from my digital archive of completed plant-based works. Each represent a story that Mum told (and retold) to model behaviour and values such as the importance of the natural world, family history, kindness, generosity and humour.
The following video provides details of All my Relations.
Hemoglobin represents my mother’s final breath. (When we breathe, hemoglobin carries oxygen from our lungs to our tissues and carbon dioxide back to our lungs.) Age 93 and a life-long practitioner of yoga, Anita’s last breath was taken in Shavasana (final relaxation pose) guided my sister Wendy, an Iyengar Yoga teacher. Hemoglobin is designed to float on air currents to simulate breathing.
