I built the sculptures in this collection using plant materials harvested where each bird was sighted. My motivation was to highlight the importance of habitat in sustaining bird populations. I had to locate and monitor the plants regularly in order to pick them at precisely the right time, a practice rooted in the traditions of my aboriginal ancestors.
